I hope the weather is better where you guys are than here, because April showers just almost aren’t worth the May flowers. So with the ambiance of the storm warning siren in the background, here’s the first post in my Adventures category. My family and I have spent a lot of time for over 10 years on Daufuskie Island, which is a short ferry ride from Hilton Head or Savannah. The island only has a population of just over 400 people and is only 8 square miles total. Even though it’s small, it has a lot to offer, so I’m going to be going through most of those places over the next couple weeks. First up is the newest restaurant on the island: Lucy Bell.
There are only 4 restaurants on this island, and this is the most recently opened one. It’s on one of the dirt roads in the middle of the island (at the corner of Benjies Point and Schools Road), so it’s like a little adventure to find it in the first place if you don’t already know the island. I’ve only eaten there once, but the food was great, and my parents have eaten there multiple times. They offer breakfast and lunch regular menu items along with daily specials.
This is their red fish filet, which is absolutely delicious (and still so pretty on a styrofoam plate). The restaurant offers outside and inside seating, and is wheelchair accessible if needed. It can be a little busy since it’s so new, but that just means it’s worth trying at least once!
Personally, great food, nice people, and sitting outside in the sun while I eat sounds pretty perfect to me.
